With more than 30 years' experience in the industry, Simply Bearings is one of the UK's leading trade and public suppliers of bearings, oil seals and belts. Thanks to an inventory that includes everything from a wide range of high-quality engineering parts and adhesives to double row ball bearings and industrial lubricants, Simply Bearings can provide everything you need to ensure your engineering project reaches completion with the minimum amount of fuss.

Able to withstand a bi-directional axial load in situations where a matched pair of bearings would otherwise be required, the use of double row bearings is highly cost effective in a range of applications. These bearings also offer additional benefits when it comes to ease of mounting and handling, especially when compared with using single row bearings. Typical uses for double row ball bearings include blowers, motorcycle transmissions, superchargers, and high-speed vacuum pumps.

Double row bearings offer compactness and rigidity and a large radial capacity combined with the availability of moderate thrust capacity in either direction, meaning that they can carry considerably higher loads than single row bearings. Double row bearings can have the exact same bore and outside diameters as single row bearings and are suitable for applications where the load carrying capacity of a single row bearing is found to be inadequate; however, it is important to note that the use of double row bearings may reduce the level of design flexibility and offer lower levels of performance in some applications.

Self-aligning bearings are another type of double bearing. These are designed for applications where there is a possibility of misalignment occurring, as they have the ability to realign themselves in the correct position and eliminate unwanted stress on the bearing assembly. Duplex bearings feature two sets of raceways but are not technically double row bearings; instead, they are formed by placing two contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings together as a pair.
