Clamp Type Rod Ends

Clamp type rod ends are ideal for use in hydraulic cylinders. One of the reasons is that the shank is slotted, which means the rod end can be secured by tightening the bolts.

This series of clamp type rod end bearings are categorised as bearings that need maintenance, as they are unsealed. They are composed of two surfaces, both steel, that slide against one another. The maintenance requirement is periodic rather than daily and takes the form of relubrication.

Maintenance relubrication of the bearing

With clamp type rod end bearings, the side of the head has a lubrication point to facilitate lubrication; doing this regularly will extend the bearing's life. Installations using these bearings vary in design and the lubricant can also be introduced through the spindle or housing, or directly into the bearing at any location on the groove. The groove has small holes that will route the lubricant onto the steel mating surfaces. The SIQG12ESA must be lubricated via the facility provided on the housing; it does not have a lubrication groove on the inner race.

Bearing sizes and composition

Clamp type rod ends are sized metrically - imperial sizes are not available. The thread size is from M12 x 1.25 to M110 x 2 and thread direction is right hand only. The inside diameters available are from 12mm to 125mm.

Rod ends in sizes from 12mm to 63mm are manufactured from heat-treatable C45V steel. Sizes ranging from 70mm to 200mm are made from steel (EN-GJS-400-15). This size can operate in a temperature range from -50°C to +200°C.

In this bearing series, the inner raceway is extended and the bearing has a shorter thread and a more compact design, which economises on space.
