Triplex Taper Bore Sprockets

Sprockets are the toothed wheels that mesh with a chain or track to transfer torque. They're not themselves gears in that the sprockets don't mesh together. However, they are commonly used to change the speed or output torque of a system. For sprockets, speed is commonly described as how many revolutions the sprocket is making per unit of time. You can convert rotating speed to linear speed using the pitch diameter - multiply the diameter by the rotations to get a measurement such as metres or feet per second.

Obviously, if you are using a larger-sized sprocket to drive a smaller one, the smaller one will turn faster, and vice versa - a smaller-sized sprocket driving a larger one will decrease the output speed.

These triplex taper bore sprockets are widely used in industry, agriculture and engineering in applications such as conveyors, rollers and drives. Vintage and classic motorbike enthusiasts often use sprockets and chains in restoring older vehicles. And lately, sprocket and chain combinations are often seen in robotic models. Triplex sprockets are typically used with triplex chains.

Small triplex taper bore sprockets are generally made from C45 steel, which has better wear resistance than mild steel but is more economical than alloy steel. Large sprockets are often manufactured from G22 cast iron.

The taper bore sprockets are for use with various sizes of tapered locking bushes. The wide range of shaft sizes for the bushes will allow easy fitting of the sprocket on the shaft without machining. The sprockets are available in simplex, duplex and triplex sizes with a full selection of locking bushes and a pilot bore version if required. Note that the bushes are not included, because you'll need to select the size you want separately.

Sprockets are available for chain pitches of 9.53mm to 25.4mm (3/8" to 1"). The number of teeth on the sprocket varies from 15 to 27.
