Outer Facing Taper Bore/Pilot Bored H/B Type Tyre Drive Coupling Assemblies

These coupling assemblies are key players in power transmission because they allow two rotating shafts to be joined but give an allowance for shaft misalignment or movement. Semi-elastic or flexible couplings can cope with vibration and shock and are less noisy.

These assembly units are designed to be easy to put together using tapered locking bushes. You'll need to buy these separately, as their size will depend on the shaft size in your application. There are three types of these coupling assemblies - H, F and B. This assembly is a combination of the H and B types. With the H/B assembly, the tapered locking bush gets inserted from the outer, or hub side. A nominally sized pilot bore supplies the other flange.

The Dunlop Dunflex products come as a complete coupling assembly with both flanges, screws and the tyre coupling element. You just need to add the tapered locking bushes, and there's a handy link on each product description to remind you to do this.

Outer facing taper bore/pilot bored H/B type tyre drive coupling assembly units can deal with serious misalignment happening simultaneously in all planes, and when this happens, they don't impose heavy loads on the adjacent bearings.

Fire-Resistant and Anti-Static

The Dunflex outer facing taper bore/pilot bored H/B type tyre drive coupling assemblies are also fire-resistant and anti-static. The units are made up of two steel flanges. The matching tyre element has chloroprene rubber for fire resistance and anti-static performance. (The F.R. A. S. marking guarantees this.) The wider diameter of the taper bore is at the opposite side to the tyre clamping flange.

These outer facing taper bore/pilot bored H/B type tyre drive coupling assemblies can cope with ambient temperatures of between -15 C and +70 C. There's an engineering data sheet which can be downloaded as part of each individual product description, and you can use this to check which coupling size relates to which bore size. Part and size numbers are listed in the "Part number" drop-down. Maximum bore sizes range from 25 mm to 100 mm and in imperial 1" to 4".
