Our range of plain wrapped steel bushes comprises three layers to offer a low-friction, low-cost, low-maintenance solution. The layers comprise a steel backing, a bronze layer, and a 0.2mm - 0.35mm thick layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). In the manufacturing process, the pores of the bronze layer are filled with the PTFE material; in addition, a layer of up to 0.03mm of PTFE is added to the inside only. The outer surface, the ends and the split rolled joint of the bush are protected against corrosion through the application of a layer of tin; in addition, we can supply bronze-backed versions.

The net result is that these bushes have very high compressive strength and provide good levels of thermal conductivity. This bush style is sometimes referred to as a Permaglide bush. We can supply plain wrapped steel bushes with inside diameters from 2mm up to 300mm; in addition, we have some imperial sizes on offer. The outside diameters run from 3.5mm up to 305mm and the widths from 3mm up to 115mm. High-quality and budget types are available.
