RHP 2 Bolt Oval Cast Iron Housings

The RHP bearing unit comes with a full-width sealed bearing insert already fitted into the oval housing. The insert can be removed from the housing and replaced. The housing includes a grease nipple for easy re-lubrication. There are two grub screws on the bearing insert which are used once fitting has been carried out to tighten the bearing against the shaft.

The RHP housings are available from 12mm to 61.91mm, or in imperial from ? to 2 7/16.

SKF 2 Bolt Oval Cast Iron Housings

These come with different configurations and use different materials for the inserts. Some of the SKF housings are suitable for use at very high temperatures.

SKF produces 2 bolt oval cast iron housing units with a steel cage structure (flange units), such as the VA201. The cage is lubricated with a mixture of graphite and polyalkylene glycol, and the unit can be used at temperatures of up to 250 degrees and down to -40 degrees Celsius.

SKF also produces a premium range for use with extremely high temperatures, such as the VA228. This is a high-temperature flange unit with a graphite cage insert. The unit features a cast iron housing in grey and then a "coronet cage specially designed by SKF for this VA228 range. The graphite cage is lubricated with a mixture of graphite and polyalkylene glycol. These housings and inserts can be used at temperatures up to 350 degrees and down to -50 degrees Celsius. Note that over 200 degrees, dry lubricant should be used. The inserts on these products have black phosphated coating and can withstand a rotating speed of 100 rpm.

If you have an application where the housing and insert need to operate at high speeds with high contamination levels, high temperatures and heavy loads, the Y bearing units which have an eccentric locking collar are suitable.

Alternatively, there are also SKF flanged Y-bearing units that have an adapter sleeve. Note that the adapter sleeve has to be ordered separately.
