• Hi There The bearings I bought from Simply bearings are to replace bearings on a rotating stainless steel anti downdraught flue cowl, this cowl was fitted just over a year ago, the original bearing cages had collapsed , quite surprised really as there is no great load on these bearings other than rotation. Having mentioned this to the suppliers of this cowl, they said the fault was due to the heat from the wood burning stove, even though the cowl is fitted to the top of a 16foot double skin flue. I further checked the origin of original bearings and found them to be basic bearings even though the flue is quite expensive to purchase. I would also point out a rubber shroud had perished two months into the fitting of this cowl , the company had sent replacements. However, I discarded them and made a silicon replacement shroud ( as I felt this shroud is exposed to the elements and acids from the wood smoke (if any). Having dismantled the cowl to replace the bearings , the silicon shroud and a brass throw plate is functioning and free from supposed heat , elemental and acid attack. I hope I have made the correct choice , only time will tell. In the meantime thank you for your service , the site was easily followed and informative in bearing choice , size ect ect. I have an old table saw and the motor bearings have given up, once I get them off I will be making a further order. Thanks for the service Ken Coutts
