Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings

At Simply Bearings, we're proud of our hard-earned reputation as one of the UK's leading retailers, stockists and suppliers of all things bearings. Our line of stock spans all kinds of new and replacement parts and components for a wide variety of engineering, industrial and automotive applications. Working from our ultra-modern 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse in the heart of Lancashire, our stock includes a massive selection of drawn cup needle roller bearings in a variety of configurations and sizes, so we're confident that you'll find the exact part required.

Needle roller bearings consist of small cylindrical rollers. Needle rollers are different to standard roller bearings where the ratio of the length of the roller and its diameter are between 0.1 and 0.4. Employed heavily in automotive parts such as pumps, compressors, rocker arm pivots and transmissions, needle rollers work to reduce friction between rotating surfaces.

In contrast to other ball bearings, needle roller bearings typically have a wider surface area that comes into contact with the outer bearing surfaces. The difference between the diameter of the bearing and the diameter of the shaft is also generally very low. This minimisation of added clearance provides a much more compact solution. Thrust needle bearings are generally flat and use a radial distribution pattern. Radial needle bearings, by contrast, are cylindrical and are employed axially on the shaft.

The typical assembly of a needle roller bearing unit consists of the needle rollers, a cage used to orient and retain the needle rollers, and an outer raceway. The drawn cup needle roller bearings in our line of stock come in a number of configurations, including open end and closed end cage formats alongside full complement varieties.

Closed end needle bearing units are designed to guard against moisture and contaminant ingress, as well as preventing injury from high speed exposed rotating shafts. Sealed bearings can be used to retain grease and keep out spray and contaminants. All needle rollers require a ground and hardened shaft to use as a raceway. Inner rings can be fitted in applications where the shaft is unsuitable for use as an inner raceway.

Full complement needle bearings feature solid outer and inner rings with rib-guided cylindrical rollers. As they employ the largest possible number of rolling elements, full complement units deliver extremely high radial load-bearing capacities at lower speeds whilst still being highly suited to compact designs.
