The ring is used for a static piston seal as part of an adapter to allow the use of spin-on fuel filters on an old diesel engine locomotive. It has to resist the effects of diesel fuel, and having machined it to size, the ring allows the whole assembly to snap into place perfectly. It is everything I had hoped it would be.
