Roller Chains
Simply Bearings is proud to be the UK's one-stop shop for everything bearing-related, from common everyday parts to precision-engineered specialist components that are perfect for new and creative projects or as replacement parts. Working from our 20,000-square-foot, ultra-modern warehouse, we supply a comprehensive range of roller chain drives in simplex, duplex and triplex formats for use in a wide array of commercial, industrial and domestic contexts.
Roller chain drives are frequently employed in the transmission of mechanical power in any number of machines, including agricultural and industrial machinery such as conveyors, printing presses and tube-drawing and wire-drawing machines, motorbikes, bicycles and cars. This form of chain drive is made from a series of cylindrical rollers fastened together with side links. The chain is driven by a wheel with teeth referred to as a sprocket. The system provides a simple, efficient and reliable method of power transmission.
We stock a wide variety of types and sizes of roller chain. For relatively low-speed and minimal wear applications, such as in transmitting motion from a hand-operated lever or foot-operated pedals like on a bicycle, simplex roller chains are generally sufficient. These simpler chain drives consist of just two plates with a roller bearing positioned on a pin in the middle, and they are most commonly found in use as bicycle chains or to hold sliding oven doors open at a certain width.
For applications requiring additional strength and durability while still calling for the smoother drive of a smaller bearing pitch, we offer a range of duplex and triplex roller chains. Duplex roller chains consist of another row of plates providing the same number of sprocket teeth slots running in parallel to the first two in a simplex model, with roller bearings and pins in between. The triplex variants have yet another row of plates, making four in total with enough space for three sprockets. These are commonly seen as timing chains in automotive engines, among other things.
To help you wade through our stock, our site includes a drop-down menu search feature. Simply choose the brand and chain pitch that you need, and you'll be presented with all of the chains that meet your requirements. We stock chains manufactured by renowned fabricators including Renold and Sedis, and we supply such a wide variety of chains that we are able to provide a specific roller chain to conform with British and European standards or ANSI American standards as you require.
