It operates under three main brand names which reflect some of the major companies that merged to form the modern group: they are NKE Bearings, Fersa Bearings and A&S Bearings.

Although the modern NKE dates from its incorporation in Steyr Austria in 1996, its founding members were previously part of Steyr Wälzlager who, in turn, had a genealogy that can be traced back to at least 1922 and also to another bearings company (Leipziger Kugellager) operating in Leipzig as early as 1904. That is a lot of experience in making industrial precision bearings.

The close partnership with Spanish multinational bearings company Fersa began in 2018. Fersa Bearings (from Zaragoza) was created from the 1968 merger of A&S Bearings and AJR Tomas whose histories began in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Fersa's main focus, like both of its parent companies, has long been in the automotive industry and especially wheel bearings and taper rollers.

Today, NKE are a very significant player in the market for premium class bearings. Their international headquarters are still located in Steyr Austria and they have been awarded the Austria Quality Seal which is only awarded to companies that have demonstrated the highest quality standards. They also use their long and deep experience to provide ancillary services such as application engineering and product development for their loyal customers.
